Denise Baylis is the founder of Open Door Educational Consultants, in New Rochelle, NY, serving Westchester and Rockland Counties, the NYC Metro Area, and anywhere in the US.
A Passion Becomes a Career and Ongoing Education
Denise discovered her passion for College Counseling
while guiding her own two sons on their very different paths to college. She recognized the stress and pressures that teens—and parents—experience during the college search and admissions process. After talking to many other students and parents, Denise recognized the need for knowledgeable and professional guidance. Her experience with her own sons and her thorough research and interactions with many parents and students inspired her transition to college consulting.
Denise earned a Certificate in College Counseling
with Distinction from UCLA in 2012 while working with high school and college transfer students and providing pro bono college counseling services to financially disadvantaged students in her community.
As a former Creative Vice President,
Denise brings significant experience in Fortune 500 marketing, advertising, branding, and promotion to her personalized college consulting practice.
Understanding how colleges, universities, and college programsÂ
brand themselves,
how a student fits within those brands, and his/her/their expression of that “fit’ are key aspects of the college admissions process.
Denise keeps her professional knowledge current
by visiting colleges, attending conferences, keeping on top of frequent changes in educational consulting and college admissions, and participating in professional networks. Denises continually identifies and evaluates related services for her clients, such as test prep companies and tutors.
She resides in New Rochelle, NY,
with her husband. Their older son is a surgical resident, and their younger son is a director who works in financial planning and analysis in data tech and is a graduate of the Charles E. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at Cornell University, the SC Johnson College of Business. Both sons reside in New York City.
